New Album Announcement (and its first review!)

An Amadeus Affair

Here's a quick blurb about the album:

Mozart's fascination with romance and Anderson & Roe's infatuation with Mozart come together in a sonic whirl of intrigue, scandal, exhilaration and mischief. Featuring Mozart's own Sonata for Two Pianos and scintillating Mozart arrangements by his not-so-secret admirers, this kaleidoscopic collection of works reveals the composer's mastery of opera, concerto, and the sonata. The Anderson & Roe Piano Duo, hailed as "the most dynamic duo of their generation" (San Francisco Classical Voice), brings Mozart's musical dialogue to life in a flirtatious interplay of four hands at one and two pianos.

AND, the album already has its first review, and it's a stellar, five-star review at that:

Throughout An Amadeus Affair, Greg Anderson and Elizabeth Joy Roe bring Mozart’s greatness to a new generation while escalating the role of the classical piano duo to a new level of virtuosity and sophistication. [Anderson & Roe] excel at a level unheard in recent years by similar concert pianists of their generation.

Technically, the album's official release is February 25, but you can preorder it from Arkiv or iTunes

NEW Mozart Album in the works!

We just recorded our next album, and we couldn't be more excited. All Mozart and all awe-inspiring music! (More repertoire details to come.)

Playing piano can be difficult enough, but doing it in 95-degree heat?! The air conditioners were were too noisy in SUNY Purchase's Performing Arts Center, so we shut them down and did our best to endure. Thankfully Mozart's music kept our spirits up.

Look for the album in early 2014!

Incidentally: our dressing rooms were the same ones used in the intense movie "Black Swan." We tried to stay away as much as possible. :-)

Latest crop of reviews

Here's the latest crop of reviews regarding our latest album "When Words Fade" and our release performance at Galapagos Arts Space in NYC.

Backtrack:

Believe all the hype: Greg Anderson and Elizabeth Joy Roe—more famously called Anderson and Roe—are electric. At Galapagos Art Space in Brooklyn, this piano duo did more than celebrate the launch of their new album; they fashioned an entirely new concert experience.

The Glass:

They are already powerful pianists that become super-charged in each other’s presence, and proceed to give very thoughtful and colorful performances with a passion that separates them from populists.

The Big City Blog:

The Rachmaninoff was special, not swooning but with a dry strength, and the exquisite cadenza brought them deserved “bravos.” Behind their flair, they are at their best in quieter music, pieces that reveal the fine quality of their musicianship. ...an enthralling performance of Schumann’s “Mondnacht,” which I wished would never end.

The Juilliard Journal:

Arresting... fierce... glittering.. affecting... electrifying. Listening to the sweet strains of “Mathilde, Marieke, et Madeleine,” based on songs by Jacques Brel and Gérard Jouannest, feels like slipping into a smoky Parisian cabaret.

Time Out New York:

A decidedly broad-minded young piano duo.
